Description

Lately I've been working on improving my lineart to be smoother and more interesting. There's one thing I repeat in my head the entire time: every line on the page needs to have a reason to be there! If you notice, her hoodie is a bit different in the last window because a thinner hood works better with her hair since she originally had long hair when I designed her. Its just too busy.

I basically gave her one of each of the 8 universal human emotions: anger, fear, disgust, happiness, sorrow, normal(no emotion), surprise and contempt. Only 7 exist but the 8th is the standard no emotion. I've mostly been using only faces to express emotions but I wanted to start using full bodies which give more insight into the character; faces and necks tend to present emotions the same but the rest of the body tends to be more individual.

I tend to soften and round the face for certain emotions while maturing it for others...does it work? Or does it make her look too different from one emotion to the next?

For now on, I'm using photoshop to scan my pictures for me! It does a way better job than my scanner's application. My scanner always messes the black and white up, making them both grayer. It also sharpens the lines way too much! The options for the application are just too limited compared to my photoshop options and its great to not have to actually EDIT the picture any! Plus, it creates a higher resolution image without distorting the pixels. ;o

Including the body in the emotional make up really jazzes it up.
